Kasa Smart Switch HS200
A wired switch that cuts power to Hue bulbs, and Kasa's page says it needs a neutral wire. It is not a Hue wall switch.5
Philips Hue Smart Plug
It plugs into an outlet, and Hue lists it as a plug, not a wall control.6
Why can't I use a regular smart switch with Hue bulbs?
A Hue bulb has to stay powered to hear the app or a remote. A wall switch that turns the power off leaves it with nothing to listen with. That is why Hue makes a wall switch module whose job is to maintain power to the smart bulbs.8
A wired smart switch such as the Kasa HS200 works the other way. It controls the power itself, and it needs a neutral wire.5
