Listings that look right but are not
Onforu 75W 7000-lumen 3-head flood light
It looks like a security light, but the listing says in capitals: no motion sensor, no solar, no dusk to dawn.2
Olafus 130W flood light, 5 heads
The title says 13000 lumens. The bullet on the same listing says 10,000. It also has no motion sensor and no dusk to dawn.3
GvvooHome PAR38 LED flood bulb, 1050 lumens
This is a bulb that claims 1050 lumens. The listing says it is for damp or semi-covered areas, not an open driveway.7
How many lumens do you need for a driveway?
No maker says how many lumens a driveway needs, so compare what each claims. The wired motion floods claim 3500 lumens (LUTEC 32W), 4000 (LEPOWER) and 7500 (LUTEC 72W).1, 4, 5 The solar Tuffenough claims 2500.6
If your driveway is long, check the sensor reach. The LUTEC lights reach 69 ft and the LEPOWER reaches 72 ft.1, 5
Hardwired or solar?
The LUTEC and LEPOWER lights are hardwired. They connect to household power, so someone has to wire them in.1, 5 The Tuffenough needs no wiring, but its sensor reaches only 26 ft, and the listing says to switch it OFF on cloudy and rainy days and charge it facing the sun for 2 to 3 days after.6
Motion sensor or on all night?
Both LUTEC lights have four modes: Test, Security, Dusk to Dawn and Manual Override.1, 4 The LEPOWER has a 72 ft motion sensor.5
The Onforu works only from a wall switch. Its listing says so in capitals: no motion sensor, no solar, no dusk to dawn.2 If you want a driveway light that is on when you flip a switch, that is fine. Do not buy it for motion.
What color is best for a driveway?
Every flood here that states a color is daylight white or cooler: 5000K for both LUTEC lights, 5500K for the LEPOWER and 6500K for the Onforu.1, 2, 4, 5 None of these listings offers a warm choice.
Does a flood light need an ETL or UL mark?
ETL and UL are marks that a lab has tested a product for safety. Only LEPOWER's listing states one: its maker says ETL certificated.5 The LUTEC and Onforu listings state no mark.1, 2, 4 If it matters to you, look for the mark on the box before you buy.
