Best motion sensor light for a garage
Buy the Enospk motion light if your garage has a bulb socket. It screws in, and its remote sets it to turn off 1, 3 or 5 minutes after you stop moving.1 Most of these lights see you from 12 to 15 feet away, so the shut-off timer is the real difference.2–4

The table puts sensor range, shut-off time and daylight behavior side by side, because the Amazon titles lead with lumens and skip them. “Title” means the number comes from the listing title, not a maker’s page.

How far does a garage motion sensor light see?
The screw-in lights claim 12 to 15 feet. Enospk and toberich both say so, and Craftersmark gives only a 360 degree angle.1, 2, 5 Hykolity and Barrina both print 14 feet on their motion strips.3, 4 Feit prints no range.8
A typical one-car garage is 12 by 20 feet.9 In a one-car garage, a light hung near the middle is 10 feet from each end, which is inside a 12 to 15 foot sensor range.
How long does it stay on?
This is where the lights differ. Craftersmark shuts off after 60 seconds and cannot be changed.5 Enospk lets you choose 1, 3 or 5 minutes.1 Hykolity and Barrina both keep their strips on for 10 minutes after motion stops.3, 4
A motion sensor reacts to movement. If you stand still at a bench, a 60 second timer can switch the light off on you. Toberich and Sunco do not state a time in what we read.2, 6
Screw-in, plug-in or hardwired?
The Enospk, Craftersmark and toberich lights screw into a standard E26 socket. Enospk says it is for dry, indoor places.1, 2, 5 Sunco’s 4 ft light plugs in.6
Hykolity and Barrina also make 4 ft motion strips with a 59 inch plug-in cord.3, 4 We found no Amazon listing for either motion model, so we cannot link them.
Do the 20,000 lumen screw-in lights give that much light?
The 20,000 lumens come from the listing titles, and neither has a maker page. For comparison, Feit’s maker sheet puts its screw-in motion light at 7,500 lumens and 70 watts.8 Toberich’s 8,000 lumens at 80 watts is closer to that.2
Will it turn on during the day?
Craftersmark says it triggers at night.5 Hykolity says its strip turns on when the room is below 20 lux.3 The Enospk, toberich and Sunco listings do not say.1, 2, 6
Questions people ask
How long does a garage motion light stay on?
It depends on the light. Enospk lets you choose 1, 3 or 5 minutes, and Craftersmark is fixed at 60 seconds.1, 5 Hykolity and Barrina strips stay on 10 minutes.3, 4
Can I put a screw-in motion light in any socket?
It screws into a standard E26 socket. Enospk says it is for dry, indoor places.1
Do motion lights work in a freezing garage?
No maker page we read says how the sensor does in the cold, and Enospk and Craftersmark print no minimum temperature.1, 5
Does a motion light need a remote?
Only the Enospk lists one, for its timer.1
Turn off the switch and let the old bulb cool before you screw in a new light, and use a stable ladder.
